Further investment for Platin
October 28, 2015
Irish Cement has produced an information booklet ‘Investing in Our Future’ which outlines plans for the next phase of investment in Platin. The investment plans focus on further replacement of fossil fuels with locally produced alternative fuels, manufactured from residual waste materials. Fossil fuel replacement began in 2011 in Platin and now close to 50% of the heat needed for the process comes from waste materials. The use of this material in the cement kilns helps to divert this waste from landfill. Irish Cement will soon be lodging a planning application with Meath County Council and will also be applying to the EPA for a review of its Environmental Licence.
